Quantitative heterogeneous source apportionment of toxic metals through a hybrid method in spatial random fields
2024, Journal of Hazardous MaterialsContamination, transport, and ecological risks of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in a large irrigation region
2022, Science of the Total EnvironmentCitation Excerpt :In recent years, however, with the rapid urbanization of the population and the fast development of primary and secondary industries, large amounts of sewage from industry, agriculture and households have entered Wuliangsuhai Lake. Studies on Hetao Irrigation District mainly focus on traditional pollutants such as excessive nutrients (Feng et al., 2005; Wu et al., 2017) and heavy metals (Zhang, 2004; Zhu et al., 2020), but there is a lack of research on emerging organic contaminants such as PPCPs. Therefore, the main objectives of the present study were to: (1) investigate the spatiotemporal distribution of PPCPs in water and analyze the anthropogenic impacts on PPCPs contamination in Hetao Irrigation District, (2) estimate the transport flux of PPCPs though water inflow and outflow to better understand the environmental fate of PPCPs, and (3) evaluate the potential ecological risks of PPCPs in this large irrigation region.
Impact of water-sediment regulation on the concentration and transport of dissolved heavy metals in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River
2022, Science of the Total EnvironmentCitation Excerpt :The Ningxia-Inner Mongolian reaches of the Yellow River are major grain-producing areas in Northwest China and play an important role in Chinese agriculture (Guan et al., 2016). Zhu et al. (2020) proposed that heavy metal Cu, Cd and As pollution in the Yellow River basin was mainly correlated with agricultural activities. As and Cu are constituents of certain fungicides and algaecides and largely originate from pesticides, whereas Cd primarily stems from fertilizers (Wang et al., 2018; Zhang et al., 2020a,b).
