Alkaline lignin does not immobilize cadmium in soils but decreases cadmium accumulation in the edible part of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)
2022, Environmental PollutionCitation Excerpt :However, some amendments may impose negative effects on plant growth through restraining nutrient uptake. For instance, lime addition decreased the Cd accumulation in white amaranth and purslane, but decreased plant biomass by 30–40% through decreasing soil P availability (Tan et al., 2011). Thus, searching a technology that could decrease heavy metal accumulation in the plant and enhance plant growth is necessary.
Combined biochar and soda residues increases maize yields and decreases grain Cd/Pb in a highly Cd/Pb-polluted acid Udults soil
2021, Agriculture, Ecosystems and EnvironmentApplication of Simplicillium chinense for Cd and Pb biosorption and enhancing heavy metal phytoremediation of soils
2019, Science of the Total EnvironmentCitation Excerpt :In China, some of the urban soils are seriously contaminated by metals, and the mean concentrations of Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, and Cd are 78.4, 115, 1.35 × 103, 266, 99.5 and 1.58 mg/kg soil, respectively (Wei and Yang, 2010). It is reported that 64.8% of the soils from 1.4 million ha lands irrigated with wastewater are contaminated by metals, accounting for 16% of total cultivated lands in China (Tan et al., 2011). Using plant to remove pollutants from the environment, phytoremediation is solar driven and sustainable.
