Mechanistic study of polyepoxy succinic acid (PESA) as green corrosion inhibitor on carbon steel in aerated NaCl Solution
2021, Materials Today CommunicationsCitation Excerpt :PESA polymer has an outstanding performance as a scale inhibitor for wide range of mineral scales and general dispersion properties which gave it an acceptability for water treatment applications [32–36]. PESA presents good chelation properties with a wide range of metals which allows it to be utilized in heavy metal extraction processes for mining and wastewater treatment [37–39]. A previous study demonstrated that the corrosion inhibition efficiency using carbon steel in 200 mg/L PESA (average Mw ≈ 3800) can reach 73% in cooling water [40].
Citric acid and ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid as effective washing agents to treat sewage sludge for agricultural reuse
2015, Waste ManagementCitation Excerpt :In this study, different concentrations of CA and EDTA were employed to treat sewage sludge to a level that would be sufficient for landfill requirements. As shown in previous studies, large doses and frequent applications of additives are typically needed to remove high concentrations of metals from sewage sludge (Deng et al., 2009; Zhu et al., 2009, 2013). However, such a large number of washings results in high processing costs and can even be detrimental to the environment because of the loss of nutrients (e.g., total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), available-N, Olsen-P, and organic matter).
Synergistic corrosion inhibition of environment-friendly inhibitors on the corrosion of carbon steel in soft water
2015, Corrosion ScienceCitation Excerpt :PASP can also be used as a dispersing agent in detergents, paints, and papermaking processes [31]. PESA, given its good chelating ability with various metal ions [32], exhibits a versatile anti-scaling performance [29,33,34] and is even used in the extraction of Cd from sewage sludge [35]. However, the application of PESA and PESA as corrosion inhibitors has not been investigated.
Effective removal of heavy metals from industrial sludge with the aid of a biodegradable chelating ligand GLDA
2015, Journal of Hazardous MaterialsCitation Excerpt :The techniques currently employed for wastewater treatment result in the generation of large quantities of sludge that needs to be disposed off [1]. One of the most potential routes for sludge disposal (especially the sewage sludge) is the land application by recycling of the valuable components (nitrogen/phosphorus-contained species, and organic matters) within the sludge [2]. However, industrial sludge generated from the battery factories, metal plating facilities as well as tanneries contains large amounts of heavy metals [3].
