Integrated environmental and economic assessments of producing energy crops with cover crops for simultaneous use as biofuel feedstocks and animal fodder
2022, Industrial Crops and ProductsCitation Excerpt :In the long term, perineal energy crops sequester carbon in the soil (Krzyżaniak et al., 2016, 2020; Sainju et al., 2017) and thus may help in mitigating climate change. Although the scope of this study was the cradle-to-gate, the results on carbon sequestration by napier grass and energy cane were estimated based on a study from the same experimental plots (Sainju at al, 2017). The supporting document (Table A1) provided the annual carbon sequestration values by napiergrass and energy cane.

2019, Journal of Environmental ManagementCitation Excerpt :Giant miscanthus is energy crop with a mechanism of C4 photosynthesis. The characteristic of this plant has made by Sainju et al. (2017). This plant species are characterized by more efficient photosynthesis and improving biomass production, and consequently intensive nutrient uptake and extensive root system.
